Not a big deal for Perl folks (who have PAR), but there are now NAR files – executable archives similar to Java's JAR files.
(PAR files are nicer than JAR or NAR files on Windows, as they can be bundled into a single EXE using PAR's pp program, while JAR and NAR files require a separate executor program.)
